Where to keep the map when the seed stays sealed
How inheritance maps and sealed seed packets should live in different places — and why heirs need both.
An inheritance map fails when it tries to be everything. Holders sometimes paste recovery words into the same binder as the attorney letter. That binder travels to meetings, sits on kitchen tables, and gets photographed “just in case.”
Split the jobs
The map should answer: which devices exist, where the sealed packets live, who may open them, and in what order. The sealed packet should answer: the material itself. Mixing those jobs creates a single point of failure that is also a single point of exposure.
A workable arrangement in Seoul
Many clients keep the map with estate counsel or in a home file marked for the executor, while metal plates or paper seeds stay in a bank box or second location. Access notes describe the second location without quoting the words.
