Recovery Preparedness

Recovery preparedness is the through-line of every NeuroServe engagement. It is not a product download. It is a sequence of conversations and practice so offline wallets remain reachable when the holder cannot speak for them.

The path we recommend

  1. Inventory before polish. List devices and backup sites even if labels are messy. Gaps become visible only when written down.
  2. Map with the holder present. Complete an Inheritance Mapping Review so locations, roles, and recovery order are agreed in one room.
  3. Harden the notes. Use an Access Notes Session if counsel packets need cleaner language after the map.
  4. Practice once. Run a Recovery-Preparedness Dry-Run with the people who will actually open envelopes.
  5. Brief the circle. Close with a Family Briefing so heirs share the same sequence without sharing secrets aloud.

What “prepared” looks like

  • Every cold wallet appears on the map with a physical location category
  • Successors know whom to call before touching a device
  • Sealed packets exist for material that must not sit in open notes
  • At least one dry-run has exposed missing cables, wrong labels, or unclear passphrase hints
  • Counsel has a summary letter that omits seed words

What we refuse to call preparedness

Storing seed phrases in cloud folders “for convenience,” texting photos of metal plates, or assuming a spouse “will figure it out.” Those habits are recorded as risks when we find them — and rewritten when you are ready.

Start where you are

If you already have scattered notes, begin with Access Notes. If devices are organized but heirs have never practiced, begin with a dry-run after a short mapping visit. Unsure? Describe your situation and we will suggest the shortest honest path.
